SPIRIT LAKE is one of my favorite landscape paintings. The movement in the sky along the horizon turned out just as I saw it in my head. Sometimes that happens, other times, it seems like there is a plexiglass screen between me and the canvas and my “vision” just keeps bumping against it. This is also one of a few pieces with green ground along the lake’s edge…a color I am trying to incorporate into more paintings. My personal favorite green is chartreuse, not found too often in an earthy landscape, so I need to tone it down a bit.
