My quilt, SQUARES I, is one of the SAQA Benefit Quilts to be auctioned at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Oct. 31 – Nov. 4. A group of quilts donated to SAQA , curated by collectors Warren and Nancy Brakensiek, will be auctioned live at the festival. Many other wonderful quilts were auctioned on the SAQA website in the past month raising $54,425 for the organization. If you are attending the festival, please visit the auction and the other special exhibits sponsored by SAQA: A Sense of Scale and Seasonal Palette.
I created this quilt using a commercial fabric (the dots), acrylic paint around the black squares, hand dyed cotton and discharged black cotton. The piece is quilted and embellished with gold metallic thread floating across the corners of the black squares.
I’m still working on the Studio Tour Quilts and will update in a few days…from the studio
Love the monochromatic colour scheme you’ve chosen – very striking art quilt! =D
Thank you. I haven’t worked in this theme for a while, but would like to get back to it sometime.
