I’ve posted previously about my thread sculptures, but didn’t show one of the first I did. I needed to move from free-motion quilting to a totally thread sculpture, so I took a step in between. I placed some of my dyed tissue paper (that I had been using in my memento pieces) between layers of film. I then did the thread work with this supporting “fabric” remaining as part of the art. I felt experienced stitching on fabric and then took the risk of stitching in thin air…the best of both worlds.
This exercise helped me learn what I needed to know to get to the place I am right now with the thread work skeletons. I believe that small steps and persistence can pave the road to an ultimate goal. This time, I made it…from the studio
