I am currently very busy working on a new textile series that I am not ready to share, so my next posts will flashback many years…this time to 2006. I did many art shows for many years when we lived in New York. My work focused on combining my own handdyed fabric with some beautiful commercial batiks to create a pieced landscape background. I lightly quilted this background and added some stitched embellishments. Then came the fun…free motion embroidering…drawing…in this case, imaginary trees, huddled together, enjoying each other’s company.
I framed these images under glass with wide mats and lovely frames. This piece and the one below were 16×16 inches square…one in cooler tones, one in warmer tones. Over the period of ten years I sold hundreds of these embroidered landscapes in different sizes. I worked very hard….I was quite lucky!
Next time, I will show you a few larger quilts…from the studio
