I am experimenting with different size vessels…floating vessels…boats. This one, FLOAT, is on a smaller scale, perfect to practice different ideas, different paper treatments, different metal and stick structures and cording embellishments.
In this case, I wrapped all the wire structure with paper to entwine it with the paper sheathing of the vessel. I used handmade paper, dyed and rusted paper, dyed cheesecloth and twine weaving. The skin is quite stable and I like the effect of the different materials that somehow mesh into a complex surface.
I want to try another small vessel before moving on to a larger one. A few more materials and techniques need to become a solid part of my repertoire before I invest a serious amount of time in a new endeavor…from the studio

How interesting! I’ve never seen wire and paper together in sculpture.
I love to try different combos…if I can figure out how to do it 😀
