Experimenting with Rust Dyed Paper and Fabrics

I haven’t done rust dyed paper before, so all of this is new to me and experimental. For example, this piece is on a rather fragile rice paper, so after I “dyed” it, I coated both sides with gloss medium to give it some strength and to add depth to the color. I have others dyed, but not all of them are coated. The ones that are on a bit stronger paper, I left natural. I guess any alterations to the paper will depend upon how I use it in an art piece. I would like to try stitching on the papers, but haven’t gotten that far in my efforts.

I want to try different papers and maybe even different fabrics…I surely have enough of them to experiment with. A few more:

Drying on the line…

Why this one is so intense compared to the others, I really don’t know, do you?….from the studio
