Botanical Silhouettes

As I mentioned in my previous post, I completed a few printed and embroidered textile pieces that belong to my Botanical Silhouette series. I am using bent grasses, twigs and any type of leaf to print with, allowing the black fabric background to represent a shadow or a silhouette of the garden picks.

I wanted these pieces to be abstract, as opposed to representative or even immediately recognizable as botanical shadows. Quilting gives the piece a modern edge and the simple embroidery lends color and movement.
