I made two new pieces…WINTER and SUMMER…totems on a smaller scale. They measure 3X30 inches (plus the hanger), still a significant size and shape. They are constructed in the same fashion as the larger totems, using my painted and printed fabrics, pieced, free motion quilted and then mounted to a canvas wrapped wood frame. I wanted these pieces to be hung from a covered wire with the ends left visible…fun and funky. I used round, brass upholstery tacks to attach the wire and to secure the embellishments on the front of each totem. Having the tacks embed in the wood frame makes things quite secure.
I made a third totem, same size and shape, but in a black and blue color palette. It is not embellished yet because I am waiting for just the right idea to hit me…probably in the middle of the night!
Here is a picture of them displayed along with the larger wrapped canvas constructions, a couple of framed textile embroideries and my sculptures. Seeing them side by side, my question to you is:
WHICH DO YOU PREFER… THE LARGER TOTEMS OR THE SMALLER ONES?
Let me know. Until then…so long from the studio

I like the larger ones better, but only because I love the knotted wrapping technique that you used. I actually like the grouping as the contrast in size is engaging.
Thank you for the kind words. I like them both and wanted to add something to the smaller ones, but the wrapping was a bit too much. I made one more smaller totem that I will post next that does not have a “hanging” on the front…I like it also. The smaller totems look good in a space when hung alone…I need to post a pic of that. I will continue to do both 😊
All of your work is fascinating, I own 3 pieces which I treasure.
