I am very fortunate to have my work accepted into SYNTHESIS, a mixed media exhibit at the New Mexico Capitol Rotunda Gallery.
I showed part of this wine colored weaving in my previous post, so I thought I would follow up with the completed piece. The background is one of my favorite cottons that I painted at least a year ago…I am a great fan of black and white. I never found the right application for it until now and am happy I waited to use it.
The white vertical piece is linen, quietly quilted and applied to the background. Atop the linen is an element I created a while ago using a random weave technique. It was intended for a free standing sculpture, but didn’t work as anticipated. It was perfect for this construction and I am so happy I save some things that I think will find a home somwhere.
The show runs from April 19 – August 23 and should be wonderful. I will post more accepted pieces before then…from the studio…a very grateful studio
