Fringe

I developed an idea for a finished piece based on a theme that I think I will continue…Oregon coast and Tidal Pools. I used this fringing technique years ago on my quilts and remembered about it just recently. I like the movement I can achieve with this technique and plan to employ it on multiple projects in this series.

I started by painting many yards of fabric in rusty colors, light to dark. Then the time consuming part, snipping the fabric into fringe.

LOTS of cutting…maybe I can do something with these???

I started putting them together to create the centerpiece of a project…I’m about 1/3 of the way there. I’m sewing them onto the black fabric to keep them in order, but will trim the fabric away when the element is complete. I think I will need more fringe to finish it, so I will be busy for a while….from the studio

The start pinned to my design wall…about 3-4 feet more to go
STORM CHASERS…art quilt…38X38

One of my first quilts with fringe!
